What should I wear?

The key is your comfort level

  • Attire for men is boxers, swim trunks or shorts.
  • Your tanning specialist will use the utmost discretion.
  • Loose fitting clothing should be worn for leaving the facility. We have found that DHA reacts with wool, nylon, and silk. These fabrics should not be worn during or immediately following your tanning session.
  • DO NOT WEAR DENIM OF ANY KIND DIRECTLY FOLLOWING YOUR SESSION. Is an airbrush tan safe?

YES! According to the American Academy of Dermatology, the most effective products available are sunless or self-tanning products that contain dihydroxyacetone (DHA) as the active ingredient. DHA has been used in cosmetic preparations for almost 30 years and was listed with the FDA in 1973. It is declared safe and suitable for use in cosmetics and drugs used to color the skin. DHA is derived from glycerin (vegetable origin), which is a commonly used cosmetic and food ingredient. DHA is not absorbed into the body and poses no possibility of toxicity.

Can a person UV tan on top of An Airbrush Tan?

Will A No Frye Zone Tan cover up or harm my tattoos?

No! No Frye Zone Tanning solutions will not harm tattoos, but if you have yellow or light tones, it can temporarily darken the color a bit, until your No Frye Zone tan fades. If you don’t want that to happen, just cover the tattoo lightly with moisturizer lotion BEFORE Your No Frye Zone Tan.

How long after the application can I go in water or sweat?

We recommend about 8 hours. Sunless tan longevity varies from person to person and according to your lifestyle. Long exposure to water will fade your NO FRYE ZONE TAN. Your outer cells will start to soak up water, which dilutes the effect of the tan. The longer you are in the water, the lighter your tan will get.

Having A No Frye Zone weekly maintenance tan allows the tan to saturate the skin better. The tan will then hold up longer in water. Be sure to moisturize every day, this helps maintain the tan. (If it is raining on the day of your scheduled appointment, please remember there is a curing time of eight hours after being sprayed in which you will not be able to get wet or sweat. Please wear appropriate clothing to the studio to ensure your skin will not get rained on.)

The concern some doctors have is over whether or not the active ingredient (DHA) is able to enter the blood stream; the indications are that it cannot. DHA only penetrates the outermost of the skin. However, if the client is still concerned, they should consult their physician first. FYI: DHA has been used as a cosmetic ingredient in the United States since 1960 and no problems have ever been reported concerning DHA penetrating the skin, or causing problems during pregnancy.
